  • The Lou Lim Ieoc garden is the most distinctive of Macao, maybe even better than the nearby Camoes garden. Its strong point is the small artificial lake which is right in the middle of the Park. In undisturbed fish pond wallow of various sizes, but, mainly, carp. And, of course, as in all Chinese Lakes, there are turtles, many turtles that evidently multiply with ease. Inside the park there is also a colonial House with a veranda overlooking the garden, turned into an art gallery (to enter do not pay no ticket) I found closed because I arrived too late in the afternoon. In the garden they intersect in a typical Chinese atmosphere, walkways and bridges as the garden goes back in style to the most famous gardens of Suzhou. This Park is frequented mostly by locals who go there to walk, read, meet friends or just relaxing.

  • I arrived here at around 11 pm. The building is gorgeous but not many types of plants and garden is like a less manicured.

  • It's a very nice Chinese, in my opinion the most beautiful garden in Macau. It is still large enough, or rather skimpy, what keeps the visit: pagodas, tea, small temples, ponds, pavilions and Museum houses. There is plenty to do! It's very tightened on a park that is not that big, but one has the impression to see a lot of beautiful things. Don't miss the small museum on the left when entering a beautiful colonial building. There is a very successful reconstitution of Chinese Interior. The walk through the garden is charming with beautiful bonsai on the bridges. You may have the chance to meet a Walker of birds, like me. On the other hand, there are a lot of people. The whole neighborhood is interesting with the facades of old colorful colonial houses.

  • A Chinese styled garden with pavilion, pool and artificial rocks. Lotus flowers cover the whole pool. The elderly likes to spend time here for a nap or playing chess. It's also a good place for photography.
  • Small traditional park with pond n sheds. Nice bonsai plants
  • Old traditional chinese garden..still untouched. It's a hidden gem, even if quite small
  • Good place to relax and sitting and do yoga
  • A very nice Chinese garden in downtown Macau. Adequate for relaxation and contemplation. Summer may be a bit hot ... It's free and popular with local people.

Where to stay in Macau

Cotai Strip in Macau offers luxury hotels, with famous names providing rooms looking out over the harbor and down into the historical center. Establishments in this area also feature onsite entertainment options and Vegas-style casinos. Look for more affordable options north of Nam Van Lake, where chain and boutique hotels provide rooms with views of the city, the harbor, and across to China proper. Head farther north for lower rates offered by hostels and apartment rentals.
