Landmark Tourist Spot
Take a breather in the midst of a historical and cultural center surrounded by colonial-era architecture at Cathedral Square. Accompanied by the calming sound of running water coming from the central fountain, take a seat on one of the square's benches and observe the people, churches, and palaces surrounding you. If you do some exploring, look for two additional fountains surrounded by 19th-century tiled murals created by artist George Chinnery. Pick up a few souvenirs at the square or purchase refreshments at nearby cafes and restaurants while enjoying the ambience. Where to stay in Macau

Cotai Strip in Macau offers luxury hotels, with famous names providing rooms looking out over the harbor and down into the historical center. Establishments in this area also feature onsite entertainment options and Vegas-style casinos. Look for more affordable options north of Nam Van Lake, where chain and boutique hotels provide rooms with views of the city, the harbor, and across to China proper. Head farther north for lower rates offered by hostels and apartment rentals.
