Camoes Garden and Grotto, Macau

3.6
#4 of 27 in Parks in Macau
Stroll through Camoes Garden and Grotto for some peace and quiet away from the busy streets. One of the oldest parks in Macau, this site is dedicated to a renowned Portuguese poet, carrying his surname and displaying his bust underneath a rocky arch. Enjoy a book or have a picnic within the lush greenery, observe the locals going about their business,  or play chess with friends. Take note of the bronze statue symbolizing the friendly relations between China and Portugal and pay your respects at the old cemetery, filled with headstones marking the graves of foreign merchants and missionaries who made Macau their home. • This time, the Australian tour brought me back to this quiet white pigeons Nest park. " This time, it was a mistake to come up by the path next to the Temple of land. I walked in front of the "White Pigeons Nest Park". Let me find the strange stones in the park, and the rocks have a cool pavilion. In the park, there are many for children and the elderly to live in the settings, and trees lined up in the summer, you can feel a sense of cool. This time, the real feeling of this park, the body will be to its leisurely feeling, the whole day, I feel very comfortable.

  • The tour came around all the world heritage sites in Macau S.A.R.. Commoners square is the first visited a world heritage site. Square itself has registered on the World Heritage list, walked on the World Heritage list. It is a strange feeling. Many benches in the square, locals and tourists sitting was enjoying chatting. Square across from Park, ideal as a place of rest.

  • Surrounded by original old buildings, this botanical garden with its labeled trees and shrubs is a restful respite from the bustle of the newer parts of Macau. The grotto is a fine tribute to Portugua...  more »

  • Camoes Garden is a quite big park. Compared to the area of Macau, I would say this garden is huge. There is a statue of Saint Andrew Kim, who is the first Korean Catholic priest at this garden. The observatory deck of Camoes Garden does not offer a nice view, and you can barely see the Macau Tower only. Anyway, this park is pretty close to, or maybe inside the historic centre of Macau.
  • A beautiful place with various attractions and breathtaking views of the surrounding areas. I particularly like the fact that there are always groups of local families or friends engaging in some kind of healthy, fun stuff. It makes the place seem even warmer and more welcoming.
  • Beautiful you can feel peace and the singing of birds
  • Heard that the most famous Portuguese poet Luis de Camoes lived there so that's why the garden is named by him. Peaceful and calm place in Macau.
  • Calming park with beautiful scenic views. I went here in January 2015 and it was a very relaxing place to be. the park is well maintained and has some excellent areas from which to see Macau. There are play areas for children and a cemetery nearby of foreigners from the mid 1800s. I could not imagine there would be such a peaceful place in the middle of a thriving city.
