(4.4/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Ping'an Village draws visitors to view the marvel of its rice terraces descending steeply from an altitude of 1,100 (3,600 ft) down to 300 m (984 ft). First cultivated between 1271 and 1368, during the Yuan Dynasty, the rice terraces today support around 50 families, comprising of mainly Zhuang people and some Yao people. As you wander through the alleyways, you will come across different viewing points offering impressive vistas of the terrace-lined valley spilling out below. • It is a beautiful original village with many wooden houses, surrounded by the rice terraces which are agriculturally managed depending on the time of year also with other plants. The place is accessible and fairly winding only by numerous stairs. Ping' to has itself is already set on the tourist flow and there are numerous stalls (handmade Horn Combs, spices,...). On many corners, there are currently houses also still under construction. There are numerous restaurants and accommodations in this village. When we were there, was organized on the occasion of the Dragon Boat Festival (holiday), a large fireworks display over the rice terraces and many candles lit on the fields. It was very romantic and has left a lasting impression with us. Already in the early afternoon the professional photographers have secured the best places for this highlight.
