Zhangye Danxia Geopark, Linze County

#2 of 34 in Nature in Gansu
Geologic Formation Nature / Park
Look out toward the sweeping rainbow hues of Zhangye Danxia Geopark, a national park known for its unusual rock formations. Set in the northern foothills of the Qilian Mountains, the rock formations' multicolored palette is due to deposits of sandstone, slowly eroded over hundreds of thousands of years. Make your way via the park's sightseeing cars to four carefully placed viewing platforms. Due to the absence of nearby shops, bring water, as well as a scarf to protect your face from strong sandstone winds. Morning and early evening offer the most dramatic views. By using our Linze County family vacation planner, you can arrange your visit to Zhangye Danxia Geopark and other attractions in Linze County.
