Iron Bridge of Yellow River, Lanzhou

3.0
#1 of 9 in Sightseeing in Lanzhou
Bridge Tourist Spot
Completed in 1909, Iron Bridge of Yellow River represents the first permanent bridge over this crucial waterway. The German-made bridge replaced all the floating ones that stood before it, making history as the first of its kind on the Yellow River. Although closed to motor vehicles, it remains open to pedestrians as well as cyclists. Cross the iron bridge and take in the sight of the city skyline. Where to stay in Lanzhou

For centuries Lanzhou has offered visitors a bed for the night, and though everything else may have changed, this fact remains the same. The urban area spreads out along the south bank of the Yellow River and includes a range of accommodations to suit all manner of tastes and budgets. Look for the newer commercial areas to the south of the city center for some of the larger high-rise hotels, offering both luxurious and standard rooms. Close to the river, you can find some smaller guesthouses and boutiques, while side streets have a large number of youth hostels to suit more budget-conscious travelers.
