Waterfall Water Body
Feel the sheer force of nature at Hukou Waterfall, China's only waterfall with yellow water. Crushing through the Jinxia Grand Canyon, the powerful Yellow River drops from 20 m (66 ft), sweeping across 30 m (98 ft) of limestone sediments (or up to 50 m [164 ft] when floods hit the area), crashing into a large stone-strewn pool. Narrowing like the spout of a kettle, the mighty river breaks out with a thundering of muddy foam. Railed observation decks take you very close to the falls, so bring an umbrella if you don't feel like getting wet. You can also take a guided donkey ride on a fairly secure path. • A pretty small waterfall in comparison to most other waterfalls, but it is the pride of the Chinese. So it is pretty crowded at all time, maybe except in the winter. However, it is impressive as the river narrowed down to a small gouge and the amount of water going through is tremendous. You can hear the roar from a distance and the mist rising up is amazing, hence the name "Kettle Mouth" in Chinese. Bring along a raincoat or you will be drenched.
