Wisdom Path, Hong Kong

4.1
#71 of 196 in Sightseeing in Hong Kong
Landmark Tourist Spot
Take a meditative walk along Wisdom Path, an arrangement of monuments representing important prayer verses. The 38 monuments each display verses from the ancient Heart Sutra, which is sacred to Confucians, Buddhists, and Taoists. Wander up close and you'll see the prayers, engraved in Chinese symbols into the structures. Notice how the monuments form an infinity pattern. While a popular attraction, the place retains a feeling of serenity and calm. Combine this with a visit to the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. Put Wisdom Path into our Hong Kong itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • If you're a nature lover and enjoys hiking, this is a place that you should consider visiting. The journey of getting here as well as the destination are both an unforgettable experience, as we hiked through the clouds to reach a place that looks like it came right out from a mystical movie. It is definitely memorable. Protip: Wear hiking gear (shoes with a good grip) and bring water and umbrella. The hike takes anywhere from about 15 to 30 minutes depending on your speed.
  • This place is unbelievable. The peace of walking and connecting with nature. Really loved it. This wisdom path is made out of wooden huge wisdom quotes that all together form an infinity símbol. I suggest to dress comfortable
  • Just taking a walk around here is like meditation. This place is so sacred, one of my favourite places indeed.
  • Wisdom of Path, located in Lantau Island. In same location with Tian Tan Buddha, Po Lin Monastery. You need to have walk to be here around 10 minutes from the Po Lin Monastery. All just good, so relaxing to be there. See the mountain, everything looks so green. And you will see the Wisdom Path traces a series of 38 wooden steles (upright monuments) containing verses from the centuries-old Heart Sutra — one of the world’s best-known prayers revered by Confucians, Buddhists and Taoists alike.
  • Nice view... these steles display the Chinese version of the prayer, based on the calligraphy of famous contemporary scholar Professor Jao Tsung-I, and are arranged in a ∞ pattern, which represents infinity...~ ~ ~
