Shek O, Hong Kong

4.3
#2 of 15 in Beaches in Hong Kong
A contrast to Hong Kong's tall skyscrapers and big business, the seaside village of Shek O shows the island's other side: pleasant beaches, a relaxed pace, and nature to explore. The area is even home to a prehistoric rock carving, depicting geometric designs and animals. Seemingly untouched by the arrival of the British, this little town has a stronger Chinese feel to it, with narrow lanes, colorful houses, and small temples. A hike up to a popular viewpoint affords a panoramic view of the coastline below. • I've been here a few times, this time to go for a walk, take a photo, take a light bus from Shau Kei. Although the place is not big, but a lot of places can be photographed met very good weather, the effect of the film is superb

  • Shek O in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, it takes a certain amount of time to travel from the city area. But the scenery is excellent, the environment is comfortable, there is no noisy arrogant in the city, there is a sense of Xanadu

  • The original friend was planning to go to 鶴 Tsui, but the bus number 9 in Shau Kei was not aware that the bus was not 鶴 Tsui, and that the result was wrong and went to Shek O. There are many food establishments in Shek O, many of which are not only village houses, but also a good beautiful beach, and there are a lot of tourists who come to Shek O.

  • One of Hong Kongs famous beaches. It's nice to go here with the family on the weekends and to relax with friends. The area becomes crowded around lunch time and is crowded until the late afternoon. There are shops to buy drinks and snacks and you can also rent an umbrella and buy other breach equipment for the kids or for fun.
  • One of the best beach in hongkong.
  • Natural beauties are really nice that has been enhanced due to the walking trails near the beach.
  • A very nice beach on Hong Kong Island accessible by public transports.
  • It's overcrowded and pretty skanky to be honest, there are much better places in Hong Kong, although the Thai restaurant on the corner is great.

Where to stay in Hong Kong

Head to Tsim Sha Tsui for the main tourist section of Hong Kong, where it's easy to find reasonably priced accommodations to suit your particular requirements, with more expensive hotels closer to the water and side streets offering budget hostels. You can also consider Hong Kong Island, which offers easy links to the mainland via its ferry and train lines. Chain hotels sit in the northern section of the island, where luxury and budget options remain available.
