Sai kung East Country Park, Hong Kong

4.7
#19 of 108 in Parks in Hong Kong
Sai kung East Country Park, occupying vast swaths of the region, has plentiful opportunities for hiking, swimming, and diving within its pristine blue waters, white sandy beaches, and lush green national forest. Only accessible by speedboat or a hike, the area has stayed relatively untouched, which makes it a fairly exclusive destination. If you're feeling adventurous, head 30 minutes west of the beach on foot for a popular activity: diving from the top of a 6 m (19 ft) waterfall into the pool below. Once you get to the main beaches, there are several bars under leafy canopies serving refreshing drinks to cool you down after a long hike. • Great area to cycle. Just watch out for the taxis and the hikers. The hikers sometimes walk 4 across in the middle of the road and the bling curves can kill you.  more »

  • Wow, wonderful place and Very nice... especially going downhill. You can enjoy walking with your friends and love one. You can see the beautiful ocean.
  • Great hiking, interspersed with lovely beaches. When you visit please help yo keep it clean by carrying out your own rubbish and picking any litter you may find.
  • This country park offers treks and hiking routes of different lengths and difficulties, all with beautiful landscapes of the sea and beaches. But access to the park is a bit tricky and needs planning.
  • Such a fascinating place you can see sunrise there's is a geographical Park
  • Great hike from Sai Wan Ting (西灣亭) to Sai Wan (西灣) beach. Around 1-1.5 hours hike. Expect quite a lot of downhill on the way to Sai Wan, hence the return journey would be quite tough. Many people choose to take speedboat directly from Sai Wan to Sai Kung pier. You can enjoy the magnificent view of Highlands Reservoir (the largest reservoir in HK) on your way and also the small rivers nearby.

Where to stay in Hong Kong

Head to Tsim Sha Tsui for the main tourist section of Hong Kong, where it's easy to find reasonably priced accommodations to suit your particular requirements, with more expensive hotels closer to the water and side streets offering budget hostels. You can also consider Hong Kong Island, which offers easy links to the mainland via its ferry and train lines. Chain hotels sit in the northern section of the island, where luxury and budget options remain available.
