Old Peak Road, Hong Kong

4.6
#7 of 18 in Trails in Hong Kong
Hiking Trail Nature / Park
Traversing the uphill route along Old Peak Road serves as a challenging workout, but the payoff rewards trekkers with magnificent views of the surrounding vista and national park. The dense foliage lining this narrow, winding road makes the route scenic and gives it an "old" Hong Kong-type feel. With the high levels of heat and humidity here and the steepness of the road, bring plenty of water as well as sturdy walking boots. Recommendations encourage only experienced or fit trekkers to attempt this path. Make Old Peak Road a centerpiece of your Hong Kong vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Hong Kong vacation route planner.

Where to stay in Hong Kong

Head to Tsim Sha Tsui for the main tourist section of Hong Kong, where it's easy to find reasonably priced accommodations to suit your particular requirements, with more expensive hotels closer to the water and side streets offering budget hostels. You can also consider Hong Kong Island, which offers easy links to the mainland via its ferry and train lines. Chain hotels sit in the northern section of the island, where luxury and budget options remain available.
