Neighborhood Tourist Spot
Head to North Point, Hong Kong for an authentic window into the lives of ordinary Hong Kong residents. Check out the local art galleries and shops, budget-friendly in comparison to the more touristed areas of Hong Kong. This residential neighborhood has a storied and checkered past: it was occupied by the Japanese during World War II and used as a prisoner of war camp for Canadian soldiers. Many upper- and middle-class Chinese fled to the area during the country's civil war, and the district was thus known as "Little Shanghai." The makeup of the residents today still reflects this, as do the food and the prevalence of Cantonese as the primary spoken language. Using our custom trip planner, Hong Kong attractions like North Point, Hong Kong can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.
