  • Slightly difficult to get to the beginning of the trail. Unusually for HK, not very well posted, but with help from locals... It is more or less 1 km of stairs up and the same down. My knees complaine...  more »

  • I really recommend going to this hike! I took a bus there. Bring mosquito repellent, cover your body, and bring water as you will be hiking and it will be humid!! There will be signs that say don't feed the monkeys. Me and my group didn't bring any bananas but the group ahead of us did. If it wasn't for the food, I would not have been able to see monkeys this close.
  • A short and yet challenging hike in Kowloon. Great to get away from the city.
  • Awesome place to go and look at the city of Hong Kong, especially at night. You can see all the way to Central (when it's not cloudy). However, you can't see the lion rock at night. The trail will be dark with the trees, so bring a flashlight. The trail is overall not too hard, but there are sections where you can slip easily on the rock steps.
  • One of the best hiking trails you can try while vacationing in HK. The hike is not too difficult even for a beginner hiker like me, plus the view at the top of the hill is to die for. Highly recommended to go on weekdays as the trail can be very crowded with locals on the weekend.
  • Very nice park with excellent views and several different paths to Beacon hill and lion rock peak.

Where to stay in Hong Kong

Head to Tsim Sha Tsui for the main tourist section of Hong Kong, where it's easy to find reasonably priced accommodations to suit your particular requirements, with more expensive hotels closer to the water and side streets offering budget hostels. You can also consider Hong Kong Island, which offers easy links to the mainland via its ferry and train lines. Chain hotels sit in the northern section of the island, where luxury and budget options remain available.
