Where to stay in Hong Kong

Head to Tsim Sha Tsui for the main tourist section of Hong Kong, where it's easy to find reasonably priced accommodations to suit your particular requirements, with more expensive hotels closer to the water and side streets offering budget hostels. You can also consider Hong Kong Island, which offers easy links to the mainland via its ferry and train lines. Chain hotels sit in the northern section of the island, where luxury and budget options remain available.

  • When I visit a location, I want to see it all. My wife puts up with it as she gets her shopping time. We were there at the Peak and saw a cool little museum of sorts on trams and transportation. So we...  more »
  • If you would like to see and buy models of Hong Kong trams then this is the place to visit without doubt and to get there you can take the peak tram from near the Admiralty. Plus you can buy some mode...  more »
  • It just adds to the attraction of the peak and I guess is a added attraction that gets you into the Galleria. The main thing is the journey up and the views down but finding it had this got me in. I h...  more »

  • One of the best history museums I have been to in my life. Fascinating. Also one of the few in the world where drugs cannot be scrubbed from. The coverage of the Opium Wars is great. Budget extra time here, you'll want it, each exhibit is really well done.
  • It has two floors full of detailed history. So many things to see and it would help you better understand why Hong Kong is as it is today. My partner and I loved it!
  • Pretty exhaustive but relies a little too much on words not enough explanatory graphics. Very impressive spaces- bit surprised to see that many objects are replicas. Gives a good idea of cultural context but the sensitive topic of relationship with Guangdong Region is skirted around quite a bit. highlight was the folk section hall
  • First thank you for making it Free! Its like traveling in old time and felt like im in real old Hong Kong. There are some short film shows. Cool right temperature. Audio head set available for rental. You may take photo but not for commercial use. Video taking not allowed. After our sunny walk from Kowloon Park, we felt refresh and comfortable here.
  • One of my favourite diorama museums, each installation is meticulous and so well thought out. This time there was a toy exhibit and the play area was filled with toys and kids happily playing. Except at the hot wheels station where a stern docent stood watch batting kids away from taking down new play structures with no explanation. My kid was thoroughly disappointed considering he loves playing with car toys.
