Duk Ling Ride, Hong Kong

4.1
#19 of 71 in Outdoors in Hong Kong
With its striking red "wings" raised as it glides atop the water, Duk Ling Ride adds flair to Hong Kong's renowned skyline when in full flight. Built in 1955, the 21 m (69 ft) junk ship enjoyed many decades on the high seas, first as a fishing boat and later for sightseeing expeditions, until it sunk in 2014 during a typhoon. Restored in 2015, the iconic vessel resumed its sightseeing services. Join a tour on the boat, but try to reserve tickets well in advance as competition to get on board is fierce. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Hong Kong trip simple and quick.

  • The old-style sailboat, of course, has been changed to diesel. The hull is not very small, and the degree of the shaking is still large, but it is not clear to hear it in Chinese and English.

Where to stay in Hong Kong

Head to Tsim Sha Tsui for the main tourist section of Hong Kong, where it's easy to find reasonably priced accommodations to suit your particular requirements, with more expensive hotels closer to the water and side streets offering budget hostels. You can also consider Hong Kong Island, which offers easy links to the mainland via its ferry and train lines. Chain hotels sit in the northern section of the island, where luxury and budget options remain available.
