Aberdeen Fishing Village, Hong Kong

2.2
Tour Aberdeen Fishing Village in a traditional Chinese wooden boat called a "sampan," and experience the contrasting lifestyles of the rich and poor in the Hong Kong harbor. Sail by the luxurious yachts and cruisers, which float alongside the old fishing vessels and boat houses--some still inhabited by fishermen and their families. Visit the boat restaurants for fresh seafood, and enjoy the view of the open sea and fishermen going about their daily tasks. • The fisherman's village in Aberdeen is one of the places that no tourist visiting Hong Kong should lose, being one of a kind. To see the most of the village built on stilts you must make a trip with a boat. An extremely convenient formula is that of the Bigbus that, during the stop in Aberdeen, with the same ticket allows you to make a boat ride. The village as well as impressive is also extremely photogenic, especially when the weather is a bit drab. With the gray skies there is no problem of backlight and the better the shots against a backdrop of skyscrapers, which occur also in various shades of gray. I don't think many more residents of the village (maybe there lives right anymore) but are interesting Lake dwellings which are used as points of support by fishermen. The boat goes through the channels, where in addition to the fishermen boats there is a zone of luxurious yachts.

Where to stay in Hong Kong

Head to Tsim Sha Tsui for the main tourist section of Hong Kong, where it's easy to find reasonably priced accommodations to suit your particular requirements, with more expensive hotels closer to the water and side streets offering budget hostels. You can also consider Hong Kong Island, which offers easy links to the mainland via its ferry and train lines. Chain hotels sit in the northern section of the island, where luxury and budget options remain available.
