Mount Hengshan, Hengyang

(170+ reviews on the web)
Mountain Nature / Park
One of the Five Great Mountains of China, Mount Hengshan has remained a sacred site since the Zhou dynasty, due to its strong Taoist presence. Of the five sacred mountains, this one stands out as the least commercialized and developed, so take a lovely hike to admire ancient temples carved into the rocks along the route. Alternatively, you can ride a cable car part of the way and walk the rest. Panoramic views, and, depending on the season, a flower-covered summit await your arrival at the peak. The trail can become very busy, so it’s best to start early and finish early to avoid crowds along the route. Make Mount Hengshan part of your personalized Hengyang itinerary using our Hengyang itinerary planner.
