Siberian Tiger Park, Harbin

3.2
#1 of 7 in Wildlife in Heilongjiang
Meet the inhabitants of Siberian Tiger Park, a facility designed to protect and grow the population of the endangered big cat. Set over an area of 144 hectares (356 acres), the park has both a traditional area of enclosures, where you'll see big cats such as lions and pumas, and a large safari area where the tigers roam free. Hop on one of the visitor vans to sample the safari experience, watching the fierce felines hunt and laze in the shade. Head to the onsite museum to learn the history of the park and how it seeks to conserve the Siberian tiger, both here and in the wild. • The park has its own parks, after that, you can watch the tiger's heroic appearance in the safe and high hiking area, it is important that the protection is safe, the only missing point is that there is no such food service in the garden area

  • Once you get in the park, the shuttle bus takes you around the first half of the enclosure. The tigers get pretty close to the buses, which was pretty thrilling in itself. They were pretty active, unl...  more »

  • Exceeded expectations. Many more tigers than I expected, under better living conditions than I expected. The tigers are definitely well fed.
  • To see the Siberian tigers was wonderful but there were other aspects of the park that were not as wonderful. You are put on a bus with bars and drive into the areas where the tigers and lions roam free and are fed live chickens or goats as you watch. The Siberian tigers are segregated based on age so mainly get to see the larger adult tigers roaming freely and the younger tigers in a smaller area. The sad part of the park were the cross breeding of Indian tigers with lions to produce ligers, black panthers in small cage sitting on cardboard, and other exotic large cats kept in small cages or pens.
  • It is wrong in so many ways to let people purchase live chickens to feed them at will. Tigers kill in the wild to survive, but here in the confinement, feeding live stock is just barbaric and only cultivates the worst in people. Stop this practice by calling the zoo, please!
  • Supporting and visiting this is suporting animal abuse. They use the tigers to create products, not to save them.
  • You can see many tigers and other types of cats like lions, leopards, black panthers etc. Most of those animals are kept in good condition.

South of the Songhua River, you'll find the bulk of accommodations in Harbin. In a cluster close to Zhaolin Park, a number of modern hotels, a few guesthouses, and other budget-friendly options along the less traveled streets cater to a range of travelers. Look for hotels occupying old Russian-built architectural landmarks, with some particularly notable ones located across the Nangang District.
