#1 of 17 in Nature in Hangzhou
National Park Nature / Park
Immerse yourself in lush green vegetation at Xixi Wetland Park, some 11.5 sq km (4.4 sq mi) of west Hangzhou's weeded waterways with great cultural heritage. Dating back to the Han period, this 1,800-year-old cultivated wetland area with ponds, lakes, and swamps represents China's first national wetland park. A museum dedicated to traditional life in the wetlands offers artifacts documenting lives of fishermen and farmers, while well-preserved residences and dwellings bring history and tradition to life. Take a boat and explore this unique ecosystem with a guide, and round out your visit by ordering a homemade meal served on the docks. If you're lucky, you may spy white egrets, wild geese, or kingfishers. • If you have visited already the historical Pharmacy and circles around the West Lake, you can relax in the wetlands. The wetlands are designed for large flow of visitors on the weekend. I was in the wetlands on a Monday and stayed largely in the park for me alone. It was relaxing after the hustle and bustle of the city. You get a few to see but a glimpse of the local wildlife animals. There is also the opportunity to see a nice historic Villa. The Museum had on Monday. The Botanical Garden integrated in the wetlands is a well-kept Park and to cope well with some basic knowledge to the plants can't keep up but with the Botanical Garden in Shanghai. Travel by public bus was easy, because I chose one which ends directly at the Park. With map and Navi I have back also easily handles the bus ride in the city centre because I knew that one should have ample 2 rmb coins to go around. The local population was also very friendly and helpful when it is extremely difficult to find people with maps and English outside the city centre and the University District.

  • When I first open or uncultivated areas, it is natural. But when a movie after the fire, this place is changed, commercial shops, sell items that are very expensive. The key is, not in the summer, not in the summer, not in summer, mosquitoes, mosquito, mosquito and more!
