Qingyan Ancient Town, Guiyang
Categories: Ruins, Architectural Buildings, Tourist Spots
A stone-clad remnant of times gone by, Qingyan Ancient Town once housed the Ming Dynasty's standing army. Founded in 1378, the historical settlement features a wealth of preserved Ming and Qing architecture, including nine temples, one palace, and five pavilions all enclosed by the town's formidable stone walls. Wind your way through historical streets lined with classical wooden houses, ancient archways, and traditional teahouses serving up steaming refreshment and local cuisine. Now a popular tourist destination, the area offers plenty of street food and souvenir vendors in the central spots. We loved visiting Qingyan more than Pingyao. You can still feel and sense the atmosphere and architecture of an old town and not get overwhelmed by tourists shops. Highly recommended.

There are two entrance tickets to choose from: the first (10 rmb) allows entry to the city and to climb along the walls (tiring but inspiring), the second (80 rmb) allows you to have access to all locations within the Qing Yan (Museum, Temple, etc.). Ideal to spend half a day and buy souvenirs!show original
Self-driving is recommended. Even this place is a little bit over-commercialized, it is still worth visiting.
