Qingyan Ancient Town, Guiyang

3.5
A stone-clad remnant of times gone by, Qingyan Ancient Town once housed the Ming Dynasty's standing army. Founded in 1378, the historical settlement features a wealth of preserved Ming and Qing architecture, including nine temples, one palace, and five pavilions all enclosed by the town's formidable stone walls. Wind your way through historical streets lined with classical wooden houses, ancient archways, and traditional teahouses serving up steaming refreshment and local cuisine. Now a popular tourist destination, the area offers plenty of street food and souvenir vendors in the central spots. Plan a Guiyang trip in moments using our itinerary builder.

  • The old town of Qingyan is very nice and impressive. It has invested heavily to develop this city for tourism and to spruce. Even a massive complete city wall was built new. In the middle there is a beautiful hotel in a Chinese style. There has to be calm and to relax. The old town itself is overrun by tourists especially on Chinese holidays. You can buy anything there are beautiful things. You should even go, take best a Chinese as a travel guide. It paid off anyway.

  • Very well run rebuilt ancient town. Good shopping for minority people's items. There are much better 'ancient towns' near Kali that better represent the 16 minority peoples of this province.  more »
  • Green Rock town, sounds very beautiful name, Guizhou four ancient towns. These are fascinating, traffic is also very convenient, the train station has a direct 203 bus, 1.5 hours drive. In general. The car is not a lot of people. 18 Yuan a ticket, if you want to see the charging attractions inside need to buy 80 yuan pass. Thank you for not buying the ticket, or you will regret it. Once entered the town, Eyeful is in any ancient town can see all kinds of small objects and snacks. Snacks do not have any protective measures, let the wind blows the rain shoot, this dares to eat? In the South Gate to find a shop to eat lunch, the hair of the food fully demonstrated here sister-in-law hair long and waist graceful posture. A very uncomfortable town trip, eyeful feeling is visual pollution. The only thing that is somewhat interesting is the back street, 100 meters long, can take photos. One time is enough. Not to go, but also.

  • Nice ancient fortress town, with almost 400 years history, since Ming dynasty.
  • Self-driving is recommended. Even this place is a little bit over-commercialized, it is still worth visiting.

Where to stay in Guiyang

As with many destinations in the country hardly on the radar for international visitors, Guiyang still has a wealth of places to stay because of domestic demand. The city's center, consisting of the districts to the southeast of Qianlingshan Park, has by far the greatest choice in town. Look close to the river for some towering luxury hotels offering views of the river and beyond. Some side-street hostels can be found throughout the central area, offering a comfortable night's sleep for those wanting to drop their bags and head out to explore.
