Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan), Guilin

3.0
#2 of 93 in Things to do in Guilin
Geologic Formation Nature / Park
A landmark of Guilin perched on the confluence of the Li and Taohua rivers, Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbishan) has been a popular tourist spot since the Tang dynasty. The curiously shaped limestone formation with a large hole resembles a giant, tree-covered elephant taking water from the river with its trunk. Enjoy the reflection of the karst hill on the still surface of the water. Climb to the top to see a panorama of Guilin, or rent a boat to get close to the giant limestone trunk. A temple with a pagoda lies on the hilltop as well. • It's an iconic place right in the heart of the city on the bank of Li River. Our visit got a bit spoiled due to heavy rain today but we also were determined and saw the entire place with an umbrella i...  more »
  • It requires a ticket to get in. You can walk around the love island or around the Elephant Trunk Hill. The cave was close when we were there. You can walk up to the top to see the pagoda and another c...  more »
  • Nice and well maintained, beautifully crafted park in the heart of Guilin. Very clean and tidy, this park is very relaxing and one can sit on the bank of the river for hours watching the boats go by. ...  more »

  • It looks pretty cool from afar already. I mean if you have a lot of time to spend in Guilin, go for it, otherwise there are plenty of other better things to do downtown.
  • Great view on the top of the hill. Only a little bit hiking.
  • Its a very Beautiful Place. You can have your photo taken with Beautiful girls in traditional costumes by the lake and Elephant trunk hill.
  • This place is very tiny, yet no good views when you are in top of the elephant. I think if you can buy that pricy ticket if you really want to see that elephant. Everything is man made, I personally don't like this kind of place.
  • At first it looks like you can't climb it, but in fact you can. Find the open stair cases and you can climb it. the top of it is the most beautiful of course.
