Guangzhou Zoo, Guangzhou

3.1
#5 of 82 in Outdoors in Guangdong
Come and meet the furry, feathered, fluffy, and fierce residents of Guangzhou Zoo, one of the largest urban zoos in the country. Set over 42 ha (103.7 ac) of land close to the city center, the zoo houses a vast range of animals, with over 4,500 creatures of 450 species. The landscaped grounds have been designed to look like the creatures' native habitats, and visitors have the chance to see rare animals, such as giant pandas (sisters Yali and Wenli are undoubtedly the zoo's stars), south China tigers, lions, black-necked cranes, and golden monkeys. A visit to Guangzhou Zoo represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Guangzhou trip planning app to plot your vacation.

  • Zoo complete apparently well-maintained animals and clean places. Unfortunately at the time I visited the premises of the Pandas was in maintenance.

  • There are plenty of places and animals. Can see the tiger's king atmosphere, there are elephants, long juice deer, kangaroo (very thin), Golden Lion Monkey and so on. The "Animal Mall" area can take a 20-dollar ride camel Camel, as well as feeding goats grazing, and tricks. Fit the child.

  • It is conveniently located near the zoo station in Canton Zoo. There are many birds in the garden. Another Bengal tiger, White tiger, etc., but not too fierce. There are black bears and white lion. The mobile game in the garden is suitable for young children, but adults can play, especially touch the car. It's not a very expensive ticket, but people can play for a day.

  • Guangzhou zoo was built in 1958 covering an area of 40 hectares. The zoo attracts more than 5 million local and overseas visitors per year. I visited this nicely managed zoo on 17 January 2016 during my sabbatical stay in Guangzhou. Check my instagram profile @profnasr
  • Guangzhou zoo is surrounded by high rise units and not far from Teem mall. Panda enclosure was closed when we visited and most enclosures showing sign of ageing. Admission for 2 adults was 40 RMB and user pay for the rides.
  • could not find it. very few people speak English and even fewer are friendly enough to help.
  • Good zoo
  • Very good to visit but when some attraction was close

Where to stay in Guangzhou

Guangzhou's commercial industries make it well-equipped to host visitors, though do book well ahead of time if traveling during the peak fall and spring trade fair rushes. The city's gleaming skyscrapers contain a number of the best four- and five-star hotels in Guangzhou, while others lie tucked away in historical European-style buildings. For budget-friendlier options, a number of youth hostels welcome a steady stream of international visitors, though most are located outside of the city center.
