Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou
(4.1/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Dive into the history and culture of Guangdong at Guangdong Museum. The museum offers a fascinating juxtaposition of modern architecture on the outside, with a traditional Chinese interior design. The design represents an ancient openwork container which protects many local treasures. Inside, you’ll find exhibits of exquisite ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, bronze and woodcarvings. Numerous interactive displays aim to keep young children entertained. During busy periods, the museum staff may limit the duration of visits. • Walking out from the library came not far. Entrance fee. The front patio for lounging and a point of shooting because they will see Canton tower.

  • Some of the wood carving and gilded wood objects are truly stunning. But an awful lot of this museum lacks any modern approach to museum experience. For non-Mandarin or non-Cantonese speakers, very mi...  more »
  • This museum is located in the new town of Zhujiang and is right by the Guangzhou Opera House. He also housed in an ultramodern building completed in 2010, from the outside is very impressive his lighting at night. The permanent collection is dedicated exclusively to the Guangdong region, significant sections of ceramics and porcelain. I'm also always set up a couple of interesting temporary exhibitions. Check the English website of the Museum to see the calendar. To get there from the Centre, provided that you are not staying in hotels in the area, underground to Zhujiang Xincheng. Open from 9 am to 16.30 every day except Monday. Admission is free but you must have with you an identity card.

  • So impressive. Great items on display and it's FREE! I spent 4 hours here. Bring your passport for admission.
  • In a huge building there was only one good exhibit, so a typically not-so-good Chinese museum. Gotta have your passport on you to enter if you're a foreigner, not really worth the trouble.

  • Very poor museum. A huge building, mostly big open space, with a limited number of exhibits, containing few items, of inconsequential importance or interest.
  • Very nice.
