Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou

4.2
Dive into the history and culture of Guangdong at Guangdong Museum. The museum offers a fascinating juxtaposition of modern architecture on the outside, with a traditional Chinese interior design. The design represents an ancient openwork container which protects many local treasures. Inside, you’ll find exhibits of exquisite ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, bronze and woodcarvings. Numerous interactive displays aim to keep young children entertained. During busy periods, the museum staff may limit the duration of visits. • The museum is located on civilized road, not far from the railroad station. This is the provincial museum, you can see a lot of, and the external view has been attractive, more free of charge, to go.

  • I never actually went inside the museum, how ever the architecture really caught my eye. The building is unique design and is very eye catching. Reservations can be made, to avoid queuing, especially during the busy seasons, and the museum is only open Tuesday to Sunday. Monday's the museum is closed. There is also serval other interesting places to see around the area also so its worth a visit.
  • Really great museum with many great items on display. Free entry but passport is required for entry.
  • Very busy in the summer and over the weekends! But a great place to learn about the history of the city and they have great exhibitions going on and off during the year!
  • It was a nice museum. Mostly in Chinese, so bring a mobile translator. Had a great day.
  • One if the amazing places in Guangzhou to visit. Had a lot of things to see. Loved this place 😍 . Personally, i was more interested in the fossils . Hope you enjoy! 😉

Where to stay in Guangzhou

Guangzhou's commercial industries make it well-equipped to host visitors, though do book well ahead of time if traveling during the peak fall and spring trade fair rushes. The city's gleaming skyscrapers contain a number of the best four- and five-star hotels in Guangzhou, while others lie tucked away in historical European-style buildings. For budget-friendlier options, a number of youth hostels welcome a steady stream of international visitors, though most are located outside of the city center.
