Canton Tower, Guangzhou

4.3
Observe a multi-purpose astronomical, observation, and TV structure at Canton Tower. The illuminated hyperboloid building stands 595.7 m (1.954 ft) tall, which briefly brought it the title of the world's tallest tower. Inside you can visit all sorts of business, entertainment, and recreational facilities divided into five zones, including restaurants, outdoor gardens, 4-D cinemas, conference rooms, and exhibition spaces. The tower contains infrastructural connections situated underground, such as the metro and bus stations. You can also visit the rooftop observatory via high-speed elevators, but it requires purchasing a daily ticket. • The tower is beautiful and very high (can barely fit it on so high it is). I imagine the view from the Observatory should be cool, but I didn't touch them because I couldn't time.

  • We happened to visit this spectacular architectural object on the very first day of our stay in Guangzhou. We were on the second floor of the Red Hop-On Hop-Off Bus when we approached the tower. Spont...  more »
  • Such a breathtaking view even whilst it was very foggy! Visited this tourist attraction during my week stay in Guangzhou. Arrived at the tower around 11:30am and to my surprise it was not very busy al...  more »

  • Great views from one of the highest towers in the world. Make sure you buy the right ticket because there are many different options: just the tower, the revolving restaurant, the bubble tram, the thrill ride and all sorts of combinations. We did the thrill ride, it's fun with great views, but really short. Bubble tram offers the best views and takes about 20 minutes in cabin! There are a few extra things there: a glass platform, photo shoots and of course a giftshop
  • Beautiful, ultramodern landmark of Guangzhou that fun for all ages. It gets more expensive the higher you go, and smog could affect views, but other than these, the attractions within the tower are truly enjoyable. Personally, I regret not paying extra to get to the highest deck.
  • Worth to buy ticket to the top level also. I visited the tower around 7 pm. and I was the only guest at the top at least for 30 minutes. It was fantastic feeling to enjoy the panorama alone. The middle level was overcrowded. I left out the slow speed shuttle - I was alone, maybe it is romantic for couples... The exhibition about the structure of the tower is very good, worth to visit that too.
  • Like any other cities in the world, Guangzhou has its own Pride. Canton Tower is the hallmark of the city. Worth to visit at least once while in Guangzhou.
  • Beautiful tower. It will be better in night time. Many restaurants and coffe shops are near. Good place to walk.

Where to stay in Guangzhou

Guangzhou's commercial industries make it well-equipped to host visitors, though do book well ahead of time if traveling during the peak fall and spring trade fair rushes. The city's gleaming skyscrapers contain a number of the best four- and five-star hotels in Guangzhou, while others lie tucked away in historical European-style buildings. For budget-friendlier options, a number of youth hostels welcome a steady stream of international visitors, though most are located outside of the city center.
