The Ancestral Temple, Foshan

4.3
A sprawling and important Taoist temple complex, The Ancestral Temple provides a calm spot to unwind in the midst of downtown. Initially built in the 11th century, this cultural treasure reveres a god that controls the waters of Guangdong. Known as the Zen City, the ancient temple complex features a number of impressive statues and intricate carvings. The main hall, built in 1372, has a place for sacrifices and features a statue of Xuan Wu, a warrior god with gilded head and feet. If your timing's right, you may see the locals exercising Tai Chi, or a lion dance performance. • Though listed as a tourist attraction, the temple is still alive with monks and worship. It's a place that calls for reverence, our of respect for those that hold it dear, and not playing around.  more »
  • In the ancestral temples, there are leaves to ask the biography, and the traditional Chinese martial arts performance and dance Lion performance, very exciting. Next to the ancestral temples is Foshan divides South World, there are many restaurants can eat meals, suitable for the day of the game.

  • Access: metro Foshan, then 200 metres walk. Entry: 16 RMB. Temple of the masters King fu (IP Man and his disciples), well maintained over the years, with many photographs of time. A lot of people the day of our visit (avoid the first week of October). Interesting nevertheless.

  • The number one place to visit in Foshan. It is a garden, museum, temple and also memorial hall for Ip Man and Master Huang Fei Hong. The buildings in this park is pretty old but is kept in good condition. Look out for the intricate exterior ceiling work which is common of the grand houses of that time. The temple is the main attraction and the museum serve to explain a bit of the history. Plan to spend some time here and if you want to see the lion dance performance check out the latest info on the timing.
  • It was pretty cool. it's also next to the area with alot of restaurants and bars, and Ip Man's old home.
  • Great place for a walk.
  • Good, but too many tourists
  • I go there to visit Ip Man & Master Huang Fei Hong..
