Phoenix Hong Bridge, Fenghuang County

Bridge
Marvel at the architecture and artistry of Phoenix Hong Bridge, a covered bridge that crosses the main river. A landmark of the old town, the bridge displays a typically ethnic Miao style, with three stone arches below and a two-tiered covered area on top. Crossing the bridge, you'll find much of the space inside given over to souvenir shops and stalls, as well as a couple of viewing areas from which to take photos of the river and the architecture that clings to its banks. • The bridge is very beautiful from the outside. Inside there are some souvenir shops on the first level and the second Hall. There are great views of the Hall, but the entrance is a full fare (148 Kenny) only.

  • The Hong bridge is a must when you visit Fenghuang. Built in massive stone, it has a two-storey wooden superstructure. The first is at the level of the street and it is full of small shops and stalls where we're trying to sell to tourists of memories cheap (and low quality), toys for children, snacks, etc. It vault worth take a look from the windows to enjoy the view on the River, the boats are floating and the houses above water all around. The second is a tea room (in the local sense) very chic. They serve nearly 50 kinds of tea quality, along with small sweets (made with candied fruits). Tea lovers will appreciate. The interest to go up to the 2nd floor, except gourmet, is to benefit views in a much more serene atmosphere (the number of places is relatively small). And if we stay after the sunset, we can also admire the captivating game of lights that the ancient city of Phoenix offers overnight. The bridge itself is also illuminated, just like most of the surrounding area, so we can do the beautiful taken (from the alleys in stone along the river). Best bridge in the daylight are available when we rent a Chinese gondola (traditional boat of the corners), however, because the course includes a passage under the bridge. (Visited in October 2013)

  • This bridge is a must on your visit to the city where you'll find locals and tourists, I recommend that you go to the restaurant located on the second level or take a coffee in a small cafe that has a window where you can see the sunset.
