  • Built in Japan. You can know the history exhibits and research results related to caves and Mogao grottoes and a valuable cultural heritage.

  • I must congratulate specifically for China's huge efforts to preserve this unique archaeological site. If you are traveling alone, buy the tickets on the internet. The daily number of entry is limited to 7,000 people per day. (Or several days before through the local agency) The archaeological site of Mogegu is huge. Plan minimum a day of sightseeing. The tour begins with two projections introduction in Chinese with sub movie English titling, explaining the origin of the site, on two giant screens that lasts 20 minutes. Arrive 20 minutes instead, because the seats are not numbered. After the visit, the bus of the Museum take you directly to the tourist site on a course of 16 kms. The road is prohibited to other vehicles to preserve the ecosystem. Then, a path of 1 km takes you down the site with a guide speaking Chinese only (plan a translator by calling Mr. JI Haidong 008613909373699, Manager of the CITS travel agency, I have to thank particularly for its professionalism and its warm!) After visiting 8 Buddhas caves. I advise you to go to the Museum to exhibit in order to deepen your knowledge. The small rides and photos of memories are needed to contemplate the nature of the site. The extraordinary conservation of the site is due to the professionalism of the successive Directors of the Museum. They are all imminent researchers with international reputation in archeology and history of Chinese art. One of the former directors of 1944-1984 Chang shuhong was formed in the school of fine arts in Lyon and Paris. He knew the works of Dunhuang narrated by a lover of Asian art and sinologist Pellot in 1908.

  • Very interesting. Provide for several hours to fully appreciate this wonder in the desert and imagine how it was to be originally. Beware of false sellers of archaeological works.
