Marvel at rock-carved statues of sitting Buddhas at Yungang Grottoes, a World Heritage Site perched on the banks of the Shi Li river at the base of the Wuzhou mountains. The unique cave complex has 252 grottoes featuring over 51,000 stone statues and 18,000 sq m (193,750 sq ft) of intricately carved areas. Admire ornamented arches and a 15 m (49 ft) tall ornamented pagoda-like column, summoning the highest achievements of the first wave of Buddhist art in China. The complex 50 thousand Buddha statues, including the highest, 17 meters high. Entrance in winter is worth 85 Yuan (nearly 1000 rubles), and in summer-120 Yuan. Generally, tickets to all the sights of China (parks, palaces, gardens and so on) are always very expensive. It is winter now, even a little to save on tickets. In the complex you can walk there nicely, the only minus-lots of noisy people prevents enjoy the privacy of this place. Imagine that happening here in the summer.
