Known as the world's first pagoda and the highest and oldest wooden structure in country, Ying Xian Wooden Pagoda enraptures visitors with its ornate woodwork featuring a nail-free construction. When viewed from the outside, the pagoda appears to have five stories, but it actually contains nine--four remain hidden inside. Admire the rustic octagonal construction with 54 different types of brackets jointed only by mortises and tenons form the wooden masterpiece. Explore the interior decorated with colorful frescoes and statues of Buddha in different poses. The golden Buddha in the first floor stretches 11 m (36 ft) in height.
