Known as the world's first pagoda and the highest and oldest wooden structure in country, Ying Xian Wooden Pagoda enraptures visitors with its ornate woodwork featuring a nail-free construction. When viewed from the outside, the pagoda appears to have five stories, but it actually contains nine--four remain hidden inside. Admire the rustic octagonal construction with 54 different types of brackets jointed only by mortises and tenons form the wooden masterpiece. Explore the interior decorated with colorful frescoes and statues of Buddha in different poses. The golden Buddha in the first floor stretches 11 m (36 ft) in height.   • 木塔矗立在山西應縣,千年不倒,蔚爲壯觀。有幸得以參觀塔内一層,感嘆古人的智慧。不過釋迦塔后的佛堂,有偏財之嫌,建議提高警惕。  more »
  • 本來擔心趕一趟車只看一個木塔, 是不是值得, 當親眼看到一個經歷960年的時代變遷, 戰爭人禍, 還能屹立不搖, 相對於雲岡石窟嚴重的風化, 歷代有朝廷出資修繕的廟宇很多, 但是讓應縣木塔留下來的是地方人士千年來每年出錢出力來挺住這坐受人尊重的木塔,我除了看到難忘的偉大建築, 也感受到當地人執著的付出.  more »
