Huayan Temple of Datong, Datong

4.4
#3 of 8 in Historic Sites in Datong
Surviving several dynasties, Huayan Temple of Datong represents one of the best-preserved Buddhist temples of the Liao period (907-1125 CE). As you tour the vast complex, split into two levels, notice decorations on the walls of the buildings, frescoes, wood carvings, and Buddhist scriptures. Inside each hall you'll find several bronze Buddha statues, with intricate, colorful details around them. Climb the tall, wooden pagoda for a view of the gardens and smaller halls that surround the temple. Quickly create a custom-made itinerary for Datong using our trip planner.

  • Compared to other scenes, this ticket is expensive, and one person wants 65 yuan. There are some statues on display in the temple, but if you look at the caves in the clouds, it's really a lot weaker.

  • In the old walled city of Datong is the monastery of Huayan consists of two distinct complexes, one of which is still in operation as a monastery. The peculiarity that makes the visit is due to the wonderful Sala Mahavira, one of the largest buildings Templars in China-are almost sixteen hundred square metres-in which are preserved some thirty beautiful statues in Crete of Liao period depicting the Buddha and various Bodhisattvas. The duration of the visit will be very subjective, I recommend to do it calmly because the place really deserves attention.

  • Stretches are quite pleasant because it is the area of Datong, but go quiet at step Temple in the world. It was peaceful as there are students with a sketch. So attentiveness precincts and slowly calmed down.
