Yalu River Broken Bridge, Dandong

(160+ reviews on the web)
Bridge
Visit Yalu River Broken Bridge to examine shell holes, twisted metal, snapped iron, and other damage left by the Korean War bombing. Formerly a major link between China and North Korea, the bridge was destroyed by American armed forces and retains only four of its original dozen arches. See the monuments--such as a bust of Mao Zedong's son who crossed the bridge to join the war--scattered around the site. The bridge runs parallel to the China–North Korea Friendship Bridge, which was also bombed in the war but later repaired. Get on a tourist boat to get closer to the North-Korean shore and see the bridge from the water.
