Japan-Russia Prison Site of Port Arthur, Dalian

Categories: Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 85 reviews on the web
Japan-Russia Prison Site of Port Arthur provides a grim look at the little-known conflict that was endured here, and into the lives of those incarcerated in the prison. Originally built by Russia in 1902, then extended by the Japanese, the prison was eventually capable of harboring up to 2,000 prisoners, and was equipped with 15 workshops, gallows, and wards. Throughout the prison, you'll have the opportunity to view exotic, saddening, and unusual artifacts, from torture chambers and equipment, to steam-powered cars from the 1940s. Though entry to the site is free, you can only explore through a guided tour, and you'll need to arrange this in advance. Tour guides typically don't speak good English, though you can find English explanations on signs around the prison site. With our world travel planner, Dalian attractions like Japan-Russia Prison Site of Port Arthur can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • This former prison. All well enough preserved to our days. Very contradictory sensations from visiting this place. One word-interesting.

  • Is better seen as historic buildings without even thinking. Try a decent slew of prison because there are various rooms, or how. In tours, guided by a local person who I went on a free trip from should I no where.
