Sichuan Museum, Chengdu

4.1
#4 of 17 in Museums in Chengdu
See rare historical relics and ancient artwork at Sichuan Museum, which displays over 250,000 items. Begin at the exhibits of pottery from the Hand Dynasty, then continue to the displays of bronze items and the section containing Tibetan Buddhist relics. Across several exhibit halls, you can see ceramics, stone sculptures, ancient coins, folk arts and crafts, and calligraphy. The museum also allows visitors to learn more about the cultures of local ethnic minorities, displaying their clothing, musical instruments, and other objects. Host to regular temporary exhibits, the museum frequently shows modern art from around the world. Check the website for more details. • Tickets are free, with Chang painted on it. There are many souvenirs of handmade leaf bookmarks worth collecting! There's a layer of Chang that specializes in painting.

  • Also opened to the evening, but the three-storey building hall only Chang part of the longest, and then micro-letter explanation and painting does not match, is not updated. In short, he was particularly admired. Other displays are the stacking of artifacts.

  • As a rare museum in the country named "Museum", the importance of its specifications is visible. However, when visiting the museum, he did not feel that he should highlight the high-end atmosphere of taste, as a possession of a number of national-level cultural relics, the introduction of Sichuan cultural history of the venues, some disappointment. The pavilion has a special introduction to Chang's exhibition area, volunteer instructors are very good, interpretation of Chang's artistic life and cultural creation. The next bronze and stone carving like a little more general, ceramic pavilion and national costume is also very common, calligraphy and painting Hall because of the decoration did not open, Shu embroidery good. Unfortunately, the history of the entire Sichuan process is not introduced, the online temporary exhibition did not. Four stars are looking at the face of cultural relics dozen.

  • Absolutely great FREE museum! Small but interesting. Located 7 minutes walking distance from the art and antique market. Tons of brass and porcelain artifacts. Expect to spend about 1.5 hours here. No food sold here (only light snacks) so eat before your arrival.
  • It's not that big, but have very interesting exhibition's to see.
  • It is not a very big museum but it has a good mix of everything. For museum lovers, it will be a good place to spend sometime here, the casual visitors may be disappointed as the display is not very stimulating visually. However, it is a good place to visit if you are planning to visit the Huan Hua Xi Gong Yuan as it is part of it.
  • A trip to this museum is well worth your time. I love both ancient and contemporary Asian art, but you will see 3000 year old art drawn in "perspective" that wasn't even attempted in Europe until 700 years ago. I spent about 4.5 hours wandering around this place and should have spent the entire day. I highly recommend visiting this museum.
