Puppet Emperor's Palace (Wei Huang Gong), Changchun
(3.8/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
At Puppet Emperor's Palace (Wei Huang Gong) learn more about the life of China's last emperor. During the occupation of Manchuria, the Japanese built the palace as a miniature version of the Forbidden City for Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty and the puppet leader of the occupied state. The complex--built in a mixture of Chinese, Japanese, and European architectural styles--includes an inner court with the royal residence, an outer court with administrative offices, landscaped gardens with a fish pond, tennis court, a golf course, a swimming pool, and a horse track. Look for a throne room featuring a life-size doll of the young Puyi. Film director Bernardo Bertolucci used the palace as the setting of his acclaimed movie "The Last Emperor," which depicts Puyi's life. • Good example of education of the masses by staging (well done, pretty terrible) in the history of the "puppet" Emperor. Not without nationalism.

  • From this destination, you can experience the heart feeling of a poppet emperor that once upon a time stated from the top in the country but fallen to the bottom. Very interesting and meaningful trip ...  more »
  • Entrance to the Palace for the students of bachelors is worth 30 Yuan for masters and doctors of 80. A small Palace, quite interesting. In the summer garden, situated in the Palace, looks nice. There is an open-air swimming pool, the truth is very dirty. At the exit of the Park many shops with Russian goods. Bought a chocolate bar "Alenka" with strawberries, turned out to be a Chinese fake. No it's not "Alenka", not milk chocolate and strawberries even and does not smell. Worth 10 Yuan. So, be careful

  • A great place with history in the "too modern" city of Changchun. Definitely worth a visit to understand China-Japan history and relationship, as well as to relax on the nice little gardens inside.
  • I loved this place! I was so impressed about the place history. Is a place that I will "never forget".
  • 这是最后一个皇上住的地方,还有一个地下水牢,去看看吧。还有宫廷饭菜啊!
  • 很好的爱国主义教育场所
  • Here it is worth only go with a good guide. If there is something very interesting.
