Puppet Emperor's Palace (Wei Huang Gong), Changchun

(3.8/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
At Puppet Emperor's Palace (Wei Huang Gong) learn more about the life of China's last emperor. During the occupation of Manchuria, the Japanese built the palace as a miniature version of the Forbidden City for Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing dynasty and the puppet leader of the occupied state. The complex--built in a mixture of Chinese, Japanese, and European architectural styles--includes an inner court with the royal residence, an outer court with administrative offices, landscaped gardens with a fish pond, tennis court, a golf course, a swimming pool, and a horse track. Look for a throne room featuring a life-size doll of the young Puyi. Film director Bernardo Bertolucci used the palace as the setting of his acclaimed movie "The Last Emperor," which depicts Puyi's life. • 可以在这里了解溥仪的一生,当然最好是事先有了解,推荐先看一遍末代皇帝。这里的规模比起故宫来说当然不能比,但是正因为如此更能理解溥仪作为一个人的悲剧性。  more »
  • A great place with history in the "too modern" city of Changchun. Definitely worth a visit to understand China-Japan history and relationship, as well as to relax on the nice little gardens inside.
  • I loved this place! I was so impressed about the place history. Is a place that I will "never forget".
  • 这是最后一个皇上住的地方,还有一个地下水牢,去看看吧。还有宫廷饭菜啊!
  • 很好的爱国主义教育场所
  • Here it is worth only go with a good guide. If there is something very interesting.
