Benxi Water Cave, Benxi
Categories: Caves, Nature & Parks
Arguably the longest water-filled karst cave on the planet, Benxi Water Cave features a nicely lit forest of stalactites and stalagmites and a 3,000 m (9,842 ft) long underground river. The semi-lunar entrance of the cavern system, which dates back almost five million years, is marked by huge red Chinese characters, and leads into a welcoming hall once inhabited by prehistoric humans. Today. models of dinosaurs and a Chinese dragon occupy the hall. Take a boat ride to float down the river deeper into the cave, admiring stalactites hanging from the ceiling. A museum adjacent to the cave exhibits fossils, rocks, and gemstones. To visit Benxi Water Cave and other attractions in Benxi, use our Benxi family vacation planner.
