Temple of Heaven, Beijing

#3 of 4,006 in Parks in China
Dating back to the early 15th century, Temple of Heaven served the leaders of the Ming and Qing dynasties as the site of annual harvest prayer ceremonies. Regarded as a Taoist house of worship, the temple complex contains several structures, including a central prayer hall, an enormous triple-gabled structure intricately detailed on the outside and elaborated decorated on the inside. There, the emperors, traditionally considered interlocutors between mortals and gods, performed rituals to request the blessing for successful harvests. • The tempel is nice and the architecture is beautiful. Love the religion building. It's not so crowded.  more »
  • Just nice. Go there in the morning if you can. See the sun rises and illuminates the temple is magical. The temple, and all the site deserves a visit time of at least two hours.

  • n business we were able to fit a quick tour of this amazing park where Emporers once when to pray for the country to be prosperous. The entry fee is about 10 RMB or $2USDs so it won’t break the bank, ...  more »

  • In my eyes one of the most wonderful places in Beijing! The park is very well maintained and the different areas and temples outstanding beautiful. During the day you can see old Beijingers play traditional games or dances. A must-see of the capital of China! Important side note: The most famous Temple of Heaven closes already at 1600h while the park remains open.
  • This is a very good opportunity not only to walk but to enjoy nature enjoy the gardens and look for the Holly stones, It has a very peaceful Vive, there is a cafeteria inside very close to the main Temple people there are very nice and willing to help you, there are more than four souvenir shops too. Having access to these in a wheelchair can become a real difficulty, there is quite a difficulty for people using wheelchairs because these are old structures and have many stairs but no ramps. you will really appreciate the contrast of the colors the structure is wonderful it's wonderfully kept and there are good explanations in both English and Chinese so you will get to enjoy this beautiful place and understand what he was used for.
  • Just like with most temples, you won’t be able to go inside in order to preserve it. But beautiful from the outside. Huge piece of land to walk around and beautiful peaceful park lands. Make sure to bring your passport for free entry into some things once you’re in the temple. I forgot and was denied entry to some things
  • So, do you wanna feel small? If so, this is your place lol. There sheer size of this monument is simply awe inspiring mixed with breath taking. Absolutely beautiful when you factor in all the history not just from the country itself but from each location that you visit while here. Friendly people and stunning views at each and every turn. Some of the trees in this area are well over 1000 years old and the grounds are masterfully maintained. Come check another item off the bucket list and come and see for yourself. Another highly rated and recommended visit from myself to you as this is 100 percent satisfaction guaranteed
  • Beautiful architecture and dated back to Ming dynasty! At least few hundred years and the temple is recently refurbished in Beijing Olympic. However, it is beautiful to look at with sunlight and able to Yale some good pictures . Unfortunately you can’t really go inside which is a negative.. temple build to pray for many occasions of the year for ceremonial events. Animal was slaughtered nearby to offer to god. Interesting to see many old folks hanging around to play cards and chess ! Unique energy and they are enjoying this activity ! Worth a visit to take some nice pictures especially the blue roof and the building the temple without nail !
