  • Jian Lou or Arrow Tower is located at the south end of Tiananmen Square. It was built during the Ming dynasty and is directly across the road from Qianmen (Zhengyangmen). It is a massive structure and...  more »

  • Before Czjanlou-archers tower was connected with Chzhjenjanmjen' one wall and together they were the main gate at gugong Jiangmen. Czjanlou-younger sister-and a rise of 4 meters below the age-is built on 20 years later-in-1439 m. 94 window embrasures for archers in serve-hence the name. In 1902 before the gate of battle erupted, in which troops 8 powers (including Russia) stormed the forbidden city where the rebels are entrenched, poetically named boxers. China imposed the humiliating peace terms and Czjanlou partially destroyed. Cixi re-established Czjanlou, but the era of the archers has ended.
