Hall of Supreme Harmony, Beijing

(4.6/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Feel the grandeur of Hall of Supreme Harmony, the largest hall and most dignified building within the Forbidden City. Standing 27 m (90 ft) tall, 64 m (210 ft) wide, and 37 m (120 ft) long, the sheer size of the imperial palace's central hall inspires awe. Elevated on a three-tiered terrace under a double-eaved, hip-and-gable roof, this monumental timber structure dates from the early 15th century and stands flanked by marble balustrades and bronze lions. Climb the stone steps leading into the hall, following a long carved frieze of dragons, to reenact ancient imperial ceremonies of the 24 Chinese emperors who reigned from this city. Hire a guide to get all the details, and make sure you bring water since you'll be doing a lot of walking. • Essential, must be seen and visited. There is always a lot of people, but no matter the site is so vast that there is plenty of room.

  • The center of the forbidden city, and forbidden city is center of bejing. Sadly you cannot walk into the hall which only can see outside. The worst part was to squeeze with the crowd, i look at the hall and take photo within 5 seconds. Beat my record when you there :)
  • Imagining standing in front of the emperors who reigned here over the years...an impressive grand building.
  • Who visit China, must stay in Beijing.. and the Beijing historical location is here.
  • It was cool to see Chinese culture!!
  • Went on a day where it wasn't too busy which improved the experience no doubt. The building is very impressive.
