Government Building
Overlooking the west side of a huge square, Great Hall of the People (Renmin Dahuitang) serves as a meeting place of the government and China's communist party. Mao Zedong dedicated the building to the people, the true rulers of the country according to the communist principle. Built by thousands of volunteers in 1959, the building features an auditorium with 10,000 seats, a banquet hall that can entertain 7,000 guests, and reception halls for each of China's provinces. As you enter the auditorium, look up at the ceiling to spot the trademark red star surrounded with a cluster of lights. • Anyway the Tiananmen gate area so security and was not allowed during this time. When I previously came here is, after several years of Tiananmen Square prodemocracy protests. Remember the dinner in the great Hall of the people as a student organization member of the Mission of friendship day. Had a flashback anyway was overwhelmed by the size of the building and columns are also larger in the lobby a good sofa and large paintings was at that time. It is a pity because if I wanted to go again.

  • Easy to visit but not much to see. Ok to see the great Hall with space for 10.000 people. This is the political center in a very big building. Nice experience to have been here - nothing else.  more »
