Ghost Street (Gui Jie), Beijing

3.0
#224 of 1,024 in Things to do in Beijing
Get a taste for busy Beijing life at Ghost Street (Gui Jie). Dozens of restaurants stretch along the street, with most staying open all night. Taste the local cuisines from various provinces to see the delicious differences in culture. Walk under the red lanterns that line the entire street, which got its name from the spooky atmosphere created by oil lamps of food vendors during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). Sit back and enjoy your meal at the city’s busiest eating area, and soak in the lively nightlife culture. We were on our way to a pleasant evening, we saw the road she had nothing to do with the photos that I have seen here. From the beautiful red light of boys, there was nothing to see. So-called contender almost have forced on the English cards one stood in front of the local. I felt it is a total tourist place. The place where we were was desEssens for the conditions that I so far Beijing knew not particularly well.

From this point and for the next two major blocks (going west), is what's called GuiJie, which is bascially a restaurant street. It's great to get dinner, but not such a great place to walk around. Pretty dead in the afternoon, and only really comes alive at night for dinner.
