Get a taste for busy Beijing life at Ghost Street (Gui Jie). Dozens of restaurants stretch along the street, with most staying open all night. Walk under the red lanterns that line the entire street, which got its name from the spooky atmosphere created by oil lamps of food vendors during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). • From this point and for the next two major blocks (going west), is what's called GuiJie, which is bascially a restaurant street. It's great to get dinner, but not such a great place to walk around. Pretty dead in the afternoon, and only really comes alive at night for dinner.
  • Fantastic night life of Beijing - a definite must-see.
