Dashilan, Beijing

(3.8/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
Pass through the distinctive ornate gate and enter Dashilan, the most ancient and famous commercial street in Beijing. Though it originates from the Yuan dynasty, the locals expanded it to its largest size during the Ming dynasty, and today it stretches 275 m (902 ft). Experience Chinese antiquity in the street's old buildings and the surviving historic shops and stores. You can find many goods there, ranging from superior quality silk, shoes, and hats, to tea houses. Try some of the traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, and don’t miss tasting the local snacks as well. Put Dashilan into our Beijing trip builder to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Beijing.

  • Street pedestrian shopping located to the South of the Plaza of Tian´amen very pleasant to stroll. Full of toys, souvenir shops and bazaars that have everything, it is difficult to finish the visit without buying anything. Dashilan liked very much, is a wide, clean and also has restaurants and cafes. It is adorned with many figures in iron, representing guilds: bakers, cooks and drivers. It is very nice and entertaining to spend a morning. Qianmen is a hutong parallel to ancient Dashilan and very typical, also full of shops with silk scarves, jade jewelry, and many, many restaurants of lacquered duck. I had intention of try it but after see them in this alley, hung, drawn and with not very good appearance, decided to go us to a McDonald's close. I have asked many times that conditions of health will have all these foods and that standards will be mandatory of health. During this trip, he sought to not think about it. The promenade is recommended.
