4.1/5 based on 70+ reviews on the web
Site of the famous "Tank Man" confrontation during the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, the main thoroughfare of Chang'an Street encompasses many historical points and political buildings. Strolling along the bustling street reveals some top Beijing sites, including its performing arts center, national museum, and concert hall. Of course, the world-famous square itself draws scores of visitors, as the site of the terrible events of 1989 and the reputed birthplace of the nation's Communist Revolution. Take care crossing the huge, busy road; use the pedestrian walkways that cross beneath the traffic at various points.
  • Visit to the gate of heavenly peace and Wangfujing Beijing Hotel where I walked. Security will become heavily toward the square. In the heart of Japan's usually no tensions. When I visited were asked for identification twice, on the streets.
