Beijing Aquarium (Beijing Haiyangguan), Beijing

4.0
#2 of 7 in Zoos & Aquariums in Beijing
Head deep underwater without all the inconvenience of getting wet at Beijing Aquarium (Beijing Haiyangguan), an aquarium located within a larger zoo. Shaped like a giant conch shell, the building houses separate ecosystems, each with a wide variety of animal and plant life to admire and learn about. Head to the Amazon area to see monkfish, piranhas, and glass catfish, then go down to the touchable seashore area, where the tides ebb and flow, revealing rock pools of sea urchins, starfish, and hermit crabs. The shark zone presents a particularly daring challenge for youngsters, with a tunnel immersing you entirely in shark-filled waters. Here is a witness to the history of memory.

  • while visiting the zoo we also went to the Aquarium. yes the price is higher but the Zoo ticket was only RMB 15 RMB. Aquarium price was RMB 150. We went to one of the shows. the crowd management was v...  more »
  • The first thing I liked is that to enter the Aquarium it is necessary to enter the zoo, and the consequent payment. The Aquarium is relatively small. What we liked most was the jellyfish area. We arrived after the last show, which is at 3 pm, so I do not appreciate it, but the good part is that why there were few people, rare thing in China. There are almost more areas with machines to play and buy things than fish zones. Taking into account what it costs (150 yuan per adult) it seemed quite expensive and in less than 1 h because I had seen it all. I don't know if having seen the show will change our opinion so if you are thinking to go, who can see it.

  • This is better than the Sydney and Auckland Aquarium for sure. I heard the Singapore and Hong Kong Aquarium may be better but never been there. My favorite part is the beginning, they have a river with full of different kind of fishes, many colourful koi or carp, goldfish. Tip!!!!!!!!, buy a ticket for aquarium, so you don't need to buy an extra ticket for the Beijing Zoo. save you some money.
  • Gigantic aquarium. Fun for kids. Reasonable price. Well maintaned. 100% recomended.
  • A very large aquarium with many animals and fish to see. The bulugas were very cute with the loud calls that they kept making. There is a dolphin show that you will want to see. The collection of fish from all around the world is pretty amazing. Also at the gift shop you are able to buy mini live jellyfish in a jar for only 10 rmb.
  • Please STOP TO BUY OCRAS AND DOLPHINS from # TAIJI JAPAN for your cruel slavery-business.EMTY the tanks, set them FREE ! They don't want to stay their lifes in prisons doing stupid clown tricks for human amusement. Aquariums, zoos and marine parks alike who keep once wild animals, all play a part in the horrific, six-monthly dolphin hunt that occurs in Taiji ... Say no to marine park tickets. Animals behind glass didn't wilfully give up their free lives." SHAME ON YOU !
  • The aquarium in itself is simply amazing, and if you factor in the dolphin show (which we "accidentally" discovered thanks to the helpful staff who pointed us to the auditorium), it is an awesome experience!
