Changbai Mountain Waterfall, Baishan
Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
Hike along a hot spring stream to see Changbai Mountain Waterfall tumbling 68 m (223 ft) down from a lake located on the border between China and North Korea. Koreans consider the lake sacred, and you can occasionally see people bringing bottles and filling them up with water from the waterfall. The lake, which sits 2,194 m (7,198 ft) above sea level, partially freezes, along with the trail, during winter months. When you arrive, observe how the hot springs create thermal pools filled with algae at the bottom of the waterfall. In the case of bad weather, you can use a sheltered VIP path with windows, or take a shuttle bus to reach the waterfall. A visit to Changbai Mountain Waterfall represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Baishan trip builder to plot your vacation.
