Corporacion Museo de Arqueologia e Historia Francisco Fonck, Vina del Mar
(4.2/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Take a tour through a museum dedicated to pre-Columbian Chile when you visit Corporacion Museo de Arqueologia e Historia Francisco Fonck. Start outside with the Maoi statue, which draws many for photo opportunities. Inside the museum, the first floor covers Mapuche culture from pre-Columbian times and exhibits on Easter Island. Visit the upstairs to see insect collections and taxidermied animals from all over the world. (Note, however, that the second floor has just a few English translations.) When browsing, consider getting a tour guide, who can provide informative explanations of the exhibits in English. • The Museum is located in 4 North with freedom, very small but well kept and interesting elements of flora and fauna of the region.

  • The Fonck Museum offers visitors the opportunity to meet elements of rapanui and mapuche cultures, as well as on the fauna of the region, through interesting collections. In the garden which precedes the entrance, you can admire two significant ancient elements: a stone Cup, allegedly mapuche - and curiously similar to those found elsewhere in America, and Atlixco, Mexico--a moai from Rapa Nui (Easter Island).

  • It was very important to hire a guide at the entrance of the Museum. That made the difference, and a tour of less than 1 hour we found lots of history and details which the Guide knew we have. It was MUCH more interesting than just to see samples. Very good info of Easter Island.

  • Awesome museum. Well maintained, nice expositions. Recommended if you like cultural places
  • Achei interessante o museu! Vale a visita!
  • I think that it could be much much better. The collections are valuable and the information is very interesting. There isn't much of that in other places, not even in the network. But it has very cool. If personal, very attentive, but the museum itself lacks more audiovisual material, more space... seems to me that it needs updated and remodeled. Especially if we consider that the entry is not cheap.

  • Pelo Rapa Nui
  • Interesting site with good information. Especially on the island of Easter and the culture Rapanui. Also on the aborigines of Chile.
