Plaza Sotomayor, Valparaiso

(3.8/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Step into Chilean history and culture when you head to Plaza Sotomayor. Built to honor those who gave their lives during the War of the Pacific, fought between Chile and Peru, the square centers on a large memorial with explanatory placards. Many historical buildings surround the plaza, inspired by 17th-century French architecture. These include the old mayor's office, firefighters' headquarters, and port station. The city does a fireworks display some nights, of which you get a great view from the plaza. • The plaza, is cute, but not me found it more cute. Buildings of beautiful architecture, surround it and a must-see is almost opposite the pier, is, but it is only to see and follow.

  • Central square of the historic town of valparaiso, can enter as part of a tour or as a particular toll. If they walk in car parking under this square to 1200 pesos every hour, maximum charge of 7 thousand. Care with the traffic vehicular of the surroundings.

  • Is a place beautiful, except by the smell that is frequented by them streets... They also say that it is unsafe but to us we didn't or we saw pass anything in addition, it is a place full of merchants and restaurants... You can get very good prices (if you look for them, otherwise fortunes can be paid also)

  • Right on the sea, this is the heart of Viña! Awesome center of the city
  • Nice plaza one block away from the water. Surrounded by government buildings. The nicest building is the Armada building.

  • It's a nice must-see landmark of Valparaiso
