Monumento a Los Heroes, Valparaiso
Categories: Monuments, Tourist Spots
See a grand and touching tribute to those who fought and lost their lives in the War of the Pacific at Monumento a Los Heroes. Inaugurated in 1886, the memorial houses the remains of Captain Arturo Prat, a celebrated navy officer and one of Chile's national heroes. The white plinths and black statues neatly contrast one another, creating an arresting visual effect and drawing attention to the sacrifices of soldiers who perished during one of the most dramatic periods in South American history.
