Caleta Horcon, Valparaiso

(3.5/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Sometimes referred to as the "hippie hotspot" of the central coast, the sleepy town of Caleta Horcon gets its eclectic atmosphere from the local population of fishermen, artisans, and nudists. Tumbling paths lead toward the main cove, lined with rows of colorful fishing boats and artists who often set up shop on the beach selling an array of local crafts. Two other beaches sit nearby: one offers peaceful seclusion surrounded by rolling hills and the other is Chile's only official nudist beach, one hour's walk north from the main beach. • An interesting place visit, Cove fishing, beaches, cuisine focused on what would be expected of a fishing village. Not is all it craft or so picturesque that it characterized in its time, but manages to keep something even

  • Located in the V Region, approximately 50 km from Viña del Mar. Access easy by road of very good level. It focuses on the sea products, fish and seafood, which sometimes are prepared by fishermen themselves or their families. The cuisine is simple, but varied. It has residential and inns that they provide villagers in their homes. There is a good police and municipal guard. Place that you could categorize insurance. Recommended, if you have time and opportunity to get to know.

  • Despite having read that is a place very picturesque and of craftsmen, do not agree with the information obtained. It is a humble, simple, and rather careless fisherman's Cove. It only has a small crafts fair with few real craftsmen, who directs to visit the bridge of wishes. If opts by know this place, could consider its ida by the day, but, for travelers more demanding, not have amenities. If stay near, is an excellent option to go to lunch in them different restaurants or chopped that exist; many with direct view to the Cove and the sea. They also sell seafood for preparations at home, and everything is very fresh. Down in the caleta by where agree only by "a" Street main, of two way, costs much parking, however by the side right there is an option by $3,000 that you allows remain during some hours. From Monday to Thursday there is no hard, these dates of January-February, but Saturday and Sunday, are formed long lines of waiting. Insist that to the go from Monday to Thursday, will can travel well, in auto and to foot; but, Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, will be. One of its attractions for visitors, is to ride boats making a quiet travel in the sea, to meet the beach cau-cau, which is located on the left side of this Cove, and visit his right side where pelicans Bay; both inserts in the midst of tall trees of eucalyptus trees and vegetation.
