Ascensor Polanco, Valparaiso

(4.1/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Ride to the top of Ascensor Polanco, the only vertical elevator in Valparaiso. Situated on Polanco Hill, the lift first takes you through a 150 m (493 ft) tunnel, before ascending the 60 m (197 ft) tower. Inaugurated in 1916, the scenic elevator is now a National Monument of Chile. From the top of the tower you can enjoy encapsulating views of Valparaiso and take postcard-worthy photographs of the colorful vistas. Descend the Cerro Polanco on foot to see the brightly painted murals and graffiti that grace the walls of the hilly neighborhood. • It is worth to get to. It is without a doubt the different, as there is to get to the elevator (which is one normal) to pass through a long tunnel.

  • To the enter to the building one is feels transported to the middle ages, their walls of stone and the long tunnel that is passes through to get to the elevator in the heart of the Hill have a singular charm. to the get to the extreme top is can appreciate a beautiful view of valparaiso. Something that is good to keep in mind is that the lift is located on a hill something pligroso of Valparaíso by it is recommended not to go to visit him with jewels or anything like that, can also alight at the intermediate station and see a little not so tourist Valparaiso, that locals living day to day. If you'd like to know Valparaíso in this way a little more, go up the elevator and then go down the staircase, which climbs all over the Hill, but beware of the assaults.
