Ascend from the justice halls of Valparaiso to the top of charming Cerro Alegre with Ascensor El Peral. The recently renovated funicular was declared a national historical monument of Chile in 1998--recognition for the thousands of locals and visitors it has ferried up the hill over the years. Although you won't see a lot out of the windows on your way up, you can enjoy views over Valparaiso and the water from the top of the hill.   • Historical heritage well preserved, functional and attractive. Allows a beautiful view of the city while the tour is done, it is a short and quiet ride.
